You will love this easy to make, enjoyable at every hour of the day and long lasting cookie.

ingredients

  • 75 g butter, soft
  • 70 g sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 more to brush on
  • 2 tbsp + 2 tsp milk
  • 1 tsp grape molasses
  • 120 g whole wheat flour
  • 120 g cake flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp mahleb (optional)
  • zest of 1 lemon

preparation

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Beat in an egg.
  3. Add milk and stir well.
  4. Sift both flours, baking powder and mahleb, mix well. Add in 3-4 batches, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Grate the lemon zest on top of the dough, rub in. The consistency should be easy to work with by hand.
  6. Divide into 25 pieces. Watch the video to see how to shape the cookies.
  7. Whisk 1 egg with 1 tbsp water and brush on the cookies.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated 340°F (170°C) oven.
  • 1 çbk = 1 çorba kaşığı = 1 table spoon = 15 ml
  • 1 tsp = 1 tatlı kaşığı = 1 tea spoon = 5 ml
  • 1 cup ~ 1 su bardağı = 1 cup = 240 ml
